The past two years have seen an economic boom in India. Yet there has been an underlined sense of anxiety in the social context as well. The present time may be called good time, the nation is moving forward at a fast pace and there is a sign of growth and development all around. But despite all the abundance the people look stressed. We are stressed at home in the office and on the roads. Stress is fast becoming a normal thing in life. This is because of the break up of our value system.

The nature has provided enough resources to sustain us but we are not only far from making full use of them rather we have caused enormous damage to the earth through our stupid activities.
The problem with us today is that we have left the God Himself and aspire for completely materialistic life which provide no guarantee of peace but demands self interest above everything else, even if that means a great loss to some one else. Naturally a society is gradually caught in a wave of deceit and exploitation.
No rule of law can ensure peace if the respect for law is not there. It is in our own interest that we respect and honour the divine laws only then we may have real peace.
It is in this background that theme of ‘Peace and Citizen’s Responsibilities’ was chosen as the topic for seminar on the occasion of the celebration of annual day on 11th June 2006 held at Rajindra Bhavan, ITO, New Delhi.
The seminar was presided over by Dr. Tahir Mehmood. Hon’ble Mrs. Sheila Dikshit, the Chief Minister, Government of NCT of Delhi was the Chief Guest. In her address as the Chief Guest Smt. Sheila Dikshit expressed that she was proud of India’s diverse and colourful culture and told that it is because of this unity in diversity that our country is regarded superior to other countries.
The people of different religion, culture, caste and belief live together peacefully in this country, though some time people of unhealthy minds try to create some trouble and disturb the social peace but we should always be careful of this element.
Social peace is must for social and economic development and it is the responsibility of all citizens to establish peace in the society. No bargaining will be allowed on this issue. She also said that the disturbance is not created by the religious leaders rather it is the result of non fulfillment of human rights, unfair practices, exploitation of unprivileged and non supply of the basic goods of necessities for survival of the different section of societies. It is only through peace that we can ensure social development.
The different scholars touched the different aspects of the topic which was very much appreciated by the audience and the proceedings had a large coverage of both electronic and print media.
On this occasion the Foundation also distributed a number of sewing machines to needy women and wheel chairs to orthopadically handicapped under the rehabilitation programme of the Foundation.
